Kintsugi, which translates to "golden re-joinery", is the centuries-old art of repairing broken Japanese tea bowls with golden lacquer. It is about creating something more beautiful and valued because of what it has been through. The bowl's history is therefore celebrated and reinvented. Often times, the piece is considered to be more beautiful by using Kintsugi, guided by Wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy that emphasizes finding beauty and awe in the flawed or imperfect.
When we embrace our own healing and reconnect the fragmented pieces from our traumatic experiences, we emerge fully transformed like a Kintsugi bowl. Our scars are to be healed, honored and celebrated for the value they have in our lives, teaching us the lessons that make us who we are and allowing us to return to a place of wholeness. By accentuating our "cracks" and "breaks" in life with gold, we celebrate our stories and ourselves while achieving our own personal transformation.
Both group Kintsugi workshops and individual Kintsugi experiences are offered. Refer to the SERVICES and the EVENTS/CLASSES tabs for more information.
